With the collaboration of a local Tanzanian doctor, Karibuni Onlus provides a Health and Hygiene Course within the Kiegeani Utende Village area.
The course aims to increase self-awareness of sensitive matters within the local population and to engage a diversity of people from the community. This is achieved by: visiting schools and lodges (lodge staff) to deliver course contents; and through encouraging members of the community who are less likely to participate, e.g. the elderly and women, to attend courses – and this is achieved through the support of influential community members, whom Karibuni Onlus regularly work with.
The course contents includes but is not limited to:
· Personal hygiene,
· Community hygiene,
· First aid,
· Sexually transmitted diseases,
· Child nursing care.
